1: Two Rainwater HOGs mounted vertically collect water for small garden hosing
Overview
A total of 18 Rainwater HOGs were used by Glenmore Public School to water various areas of the school grounds. The transportable classrooms have strict criteria which does not allow any permanent connection to the site, meaning that that their downspouts generally run onto the surrounding ground. The portable, lightweight and reusable nature of HOGs meant that they could be installed directly on the ground under the classrooms to collect and reuse the water for drip irrigation, with the knowledge that once the classrooms were removed the HOGs could be recommissioned elsewhere without leaving foundations behind.
For the Cottage installation, the narrow profile of HOGs made them ideal to store the low volume of water from the heritage building’s roof without compromising outdoor play area. The contained nature of the HOG module means that it is safe around children, with no areas of egress or instability.
